Chores And Responsibilities Checklist

Feel free to use this tip sheet / checklist as you tackle your own ""do-it-yourself"" organizing projects.

PHASE 1 -- TODDLERS

• put toys away
• pick out clothes for tomorrow
• get dressed
• put clothes and bath towels in hamper
• wipe place at table after eating

PHASE 2 -- KINDERGARTEN

• empty wastebasket
• make bed
• collect the mail
• fix breakfast cereal
• help put dishes away
• clear the table after meals
• water houseplants

PHASE 3 -- FIRST AND SECOND GRADES

• sweep floor
• clean bedroom
• sort clean laundry
• brush teeth
• set and clear table
• rake leaves in yard

PHASE 4 -- THIRD AND FOURTH GRADES

• vaccuum
• put away groceries
• put away laundry
• load dishwasher
• take dog for a walk
• help make lunch or dinner
• take bath

PHASE 5 -- FIFTH GRADE AND UP

• clean bathroom
• clean kitchen
• do laundry
• iron clothes
• wash car
• take on a neighborhood job (paper route, mow lawns, etc.)

POSITIVE HABITS

• did things the first time told
• treated family with respect
• was polite to everyone spoke with
• said thank you
• said prayers
• helped another person
• learned new words or facts today
• did something I enjoy
